What is intimacy? I believe that intimacy is both diverse and universal. It is not just something between lovers, but a closeness, an atmosphere, a certain type of knowledge of a person generated by our desires to belong, to love. Central to intimate relationships is trust, communication, and a certain vulnerability. This piece is an exploration of intimacy, in the abstract and the specific, the autobiographical and the general.

Thank you to those who helped make this piece a reality, and to those who encouraged me to take risks (and to trust). A special thanks to James Murphy, Scott Burgess, and Tara Webb; to Sharon Friedler, Jumatatu Poe, and Patricia Flaherty Fisch for your patience in helping me work through some of these difficult ideas and feelings; to Ryan, for being such a patient and willing collaborator; to my installation participants; and finally, to those I have been, am currently, or will be intimate with in times to come.
